HOP ON IN AND COMMUNICATE!!!

To hear an Oriental Fire Bellied Toad communicate...

Go to htp://allaboutfrogs.org/info/mypets/firebellies.html

and click on sing or squeaky-toy noises

Unlike most frogs, male toads no not have a resonator, they actually make calls through inhalation rather than exhalation.

Auditory Discrimination- Introduction & activity suggestion

Listen to Hoops & Yoyo links at Hallmark (go to their home for e-cards, MP3 downloads, etc. at http://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/article|10001|10051|/HallmarkSite/hoops_yoyohome/HOOPS_YOYO_HOME_PAGE?landingPage=hoopsandyoyo&hostName=www.hoopsandyoyo.com) while attempting to read a journal article. Experiment with volume and other auditory distractions. Now there is a small playlist in the side bar. Some are their cards are really funny. Especially if sent in another language.

I was going to use the First Day of School free e-card but many will equally suffice as an auditory distraction. Also listen in other languages!!!!

They have many funny cards and also musical CD's etc. These may cause students with ASD to shut down or they may not block all auditory sensory input as some results showed in the article Change Detection in Children with Autism: An Auditory Even-related fMRI Study by Gomot et al. In NeuroImage 29 (2006) p. 475-484. This article contains much more information on brain imaging.

There will be further posts on Auditory Discrimination.
